Our year 12 biology students spent three days at Flatford Mill, carrying out ecological fieldwork across woodland, freshwater and coastal habitats. Using a range of statistical techniques to analyse their findings, they investigated plant succession, invertebrate populations and environmental variation in different ecosystems. Beyond the fieldwork, students enjoyed the beautiful countryside and encountered a variety of wildlife, including rabbits, ducklings, a grass snake and even a baby eel. Despite a packed schedule and the summer heat, there was still time to enjoy the stunning surroundings and even to watch the World Cup matches!
