City of London School for Girls (CLSG) is an independent day school for pupils aged 7-18 situated in the heart of the Barbican. Opened in 1894, the school provides an outstanding education for able students from all backgrounds, cultures and faiths. The role

You’ll be at the heart of crucial maintenance across the City of London School for Girls. Your specialist trade can be carpentry or plumbing, but either way you’ll take on a wide range of repairs and projects, monitoring the school’s buildings to make sure they’re clean, secure and in good order.

You’ll also provide training for team members, supervise outside contractors and find ways to improve our customer experience as a facilities department. Delivering written reports on your work is also an important part of the role.

Overall, the maintenance technician will deliver the highest quality of work that consistently meets regulations, legislation and policy. In turn, you’ll be maintaining an environment where teachers and students can work to the best of their abilities.

About you

We’re looking for team-oriented, motivated candidates with experience in either plumbing, carpentry or electrical repairs.

You’ll have strong communications skills and be able to deal with contractors and customers alike. You’ll also be able to quickly analyze issues, work to demanding deadlines and use IT software effectively.

If applicable, you should also have a recognised qualification in carpentry and joinery to NVQ level 3 or above, or strong evidence of equivalent knowledge.

Additional information

This is a 37.5 hours per week, all year round.
