Young Musicians of the Year

Musicians competing in young musician of the year

We had a wonderful day listening to the best that the music department has to offer at the Young Musician of the Year competition. Our talented students were judged by Ruth Bolister (Principal Oboe for ENO), Christopher Atkinson (Director of Music at Lockers Park School), Adrian Bradbury (professional cellist) and Katy Hill (professional soprano for The Sixteen) in our four distinct categories: woodwind, brass and percussion; piano; strings; and voice respectively. Congratulations to each of the winners:

Junior Young Musician of the Year: Ahaana (Y6) - harp – Barcarolle by Marcel Grandjany.

Senior Young Musician of the Year: Ines (Y12) - violin – Gigue from Violin Partita No.2 in D Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach

Sixth Form Prize Winners: Sophia (Y12) - alto saxophone – Sarabande et Allegro by Gabriel Grovlez; Christina Prieto (Y12) - piano – Sonata in C# Minor by Ludwig van Beethoven
