Year 9 sustainable fashion race

Student showing handmade dress

For their independent learning project, year 9s were given a few hours to create sustainable outfits out of scrap material, before presenting them to a panel of judges. They divided their forms into project managers, advert writers, logo designers, marketing managers and fashion designers. As a form, they created four separate ‘runway extravaganza’ themed outfits. One group used large black bin bags for their design to give the illusion of an unmasking, representing the pollution of nature. Students then pitched their brand to the judges and audience, presenting their adverts and the reasoning behind their branding.
