Our year 12 French students attended a workshop at the BFI, analysing the style and themes of the New Wave and its impact on contemporary French cinema. They spent the day watching extracts from films, building an understanding of François Truffaut and his wider influence. In the afternoon, students watched Mathiew Kassovitz's film, La Haine, allowing students to enhance their film analysis and language skills, as well as inviting them to engage in political discussion of police brutality, identity and multiculturalism.
