Year 11 trip to the Globe

Year 11 trip to the Globe to see play

Spending the afternoon at the Globe Theatre watching Much Ado about Nothing was the most entertaining way to finish the week. From the high-quality of acting to the general ambiance of the theatre- the performance exceeded all of our expectations and truly allowed us to dive into the world Shakespeare created. Not only was this an amusing production; it built upon our previous study of the text in English lessons. Seeing it acted out live gave us the opportunity to understand the feelings and thoughts of the characters in a way we couldn’t interpret before. Furthermore, in this adaptation there was a refreshing take on societal gender roles, as they had swapped some of the older characters (Leonato and Antonio) for a female equivalent. This classic comedy at the Globe Theatre is a phenomenal trip to go on and truly enhanced your enjoyment of Shakespearean literature.
