Wren 300 partnership project

Christopher WrenTSPrint_ (12)

Last Thursday saw the culmination of a major project. In a celebration of the life and achievements of Sir Christopher Wren, whose tercentenary was marked this year, 250 students from ten City family of schools were brought together. These students spent time in beautiful Wren churches, took part in creative writing workshops and art and craft sessions with a professional artist, all inspired by Wren’s architecture. They also enjoyed singing workshops led by Tom Daggett from St Paul's Cathedral and myself.

In June, we were reunited under the Dome of St Paul's Cathedral to sing an extract of songs from the programme. The grand finale took place in the Great Hall of the Guildhall with a professional band, and all of the participants gave a wonderfully exciting and spirited performance of Raising the Roof, ten songs to new words and music which I had composed especially for the occasion.
