World Book Day

Students in World Book Day costumes

This week has been filled with page-turning World Book Day celebrations, which we have combined with International Women's Day, with the theme of women in the arts. Throughout this week, our students gathered for various games in the library over lunchtime, hoping to win prizes for the great Jane Austen debate, as well as for writing book reviews that feature central female characters. The celebrations amounted to today's World Book Day assembly and non-uniform day, where our students dressed as female literary characters to raise funds for the school bursary fund. We were also delighted to welcome Harry Baker to City today, speaking and performing his poetry at assembly, as well as talking us through his writing process during lessons and LitSoc.
