On Friday 7 October, a group of sixth form students held a wonderful concert at St Giles’ church in support of the Ukraine crisis appeal. Alice, year 13, brought together a group of talented musicians who dedicated their time and talent to the cause. Three beautiful concertos by Schubert were performed by a string quartet and quintet as well as a wind quintet. The concert concluded with an empowering Ukrainian folk song, where we all came together in a harmonious performance conducted by Ms Cox. The appeal remains open and all donations are welcome here.
Year 12 mathematicians had a great trip to the maths in action conference last week. Topics covered included Fermat's last theorem and transforming mobius strips, how MRI scanners function & how numbers determine which musical notes sound good together.
