On Wednesday, year 12 Spanish students attended a study day at the BFI exploring the legacy of dictatorship in contemporary Spanish cinema.
After watching the documentary The Silence of Others we then discussed the dictatorships in Spain and Chile, as well as efforts to achieve justice for all the victims. We also heard about the barriers to this, such as the Amnesty Law. We had the opportunity to ask questions to two torture victims of Franco’s dictatorship, who are now fighting to achieve justice in Spain and abroad.
