The Bard’s beginnings

Group photo of student trip to Stratford-upon-Avon

Year 12 English students travelled to Stratford-upon-Avon.  As we explored the house where Shakespeare grew up, we learnt fascinating details of his life and had the opportunity to view artefacts from the Trust’s world-class collections. In the afternoon, we watched the RSC’s new production of Hamlet, directed by Rupert Goold. The nuanced performance left us captivated with both the ingeniously creative set design - of setting Elsinore on a boat undergoing a stormy voyage, which perfectly  encapsulating the themes of instability and fragility -  and a superb cast.
