Despite the rail strikes, the entire senior school headed to Grove Park for our annual sports day and house rounders competitions on Wednesday 22 June. The weather was glorious, meaning that many strawberries were consumed and some members of the PE team even got sunburnt! There was an excellent array of performances in the rounders and field events during the morning session. After lunch, all eyes turned to the track, with a couple of new sports day records being set by Lyra (year 9) in the 800m and Elle (year 7) in the 200m. It was another highly successful day for parents, staff and pupils to celebrate our impressive athletes.
Year 12 mathematicians had a great trip to the maths in action conference last week. Topics covered included Fermat's last theorem and transforming mobius strips, how MRI scanners function & how numbers determine which musical notes sound good together.
