Step up to the PE challenge!

In this period of 'online' living, keeping moving is more important than ever. So while the year 10 PE GCSE cohort have been learning about the Cardiac cycle in their theory lessons this week, pupils across the school have been getting their heart rate up!

The annual house netball tournaments for years 7 and 8 took place this week, with Ward and St. Bride respectively emerging victorious. Further up the school, meanwhile, one player has been selected to train with a netball academy.

Year 7 & 8 Sports Challenges

This half term, the PE department have hosted the Year 7 & 8 Challenges. As this year's summer sports day was cancelled, we decided to run an athletics-themed 'sports day' event, with each form taking part in a range of tasks. The events – including group and individual challenges – were focused around power, speed, endurance and co-ordination.

En garde – Olivia’s fencing success

Despite her youth, year 13 pupil Olivia O'Connell (pictured left) has already had a fantastic fencing career, ending last season ranked 12th in the GB Cadets (U17). For those outside the fencing world, the top 15 usually get to compete with the GB squad overseas. In other words: this is a pretty big deal.

Student charity cycle to France

Congratulations to sisters Ashmi, year 9, and Elina, year 7, who completed an incredible 440km fundraising bike ride from London to Paris this summer. Their cause is the charity Housing for Women, which works across London to empower vulnerable women through providing safe homes and services.
