Game, set, match
Both the year 7 & 8 and year 9 & 10 tennis squads had their first fixtures this month. These are the first PE fixtures that have taken place in 14 months, and it was so great to be back again competing, even if it was in a storm!

A marathon achievement: Hometown Half
Huge congratulations to Miss Squire, Mrs Helm, and Mr Aldridge for running not one, not two, but 13.1 miles in aid of the mental health charity Mind this weekend, as part of the second ever Hometown Half marathon.

Teachers on the run: support the Hometown Half
Last year Miss Squire was meant to run the Hackney Half Marathon with some friends. When it was cancelled, they decided to create their own socially distanced half marathon for anyone who had been training and wanted to continue their training plans.

Since coming back from lockdown the PE dept. have introduced Karate into the curriculum with a special focus on the year 5 and 6 challenge time. Year 5s Lucy and Katy told us more about their first session:

Race against time: virtual cross country results
During the last lockdown, our cross country runners took part in the London schools virtual cross country race, for which athletes completed a set distance run and sent their times in.
Good luck to all our year 11 and year 13 students as they begin their GCSE and A level exams. We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication and we wish you all the best over the coming weeks.

Last weekend, 75 year 10 students completed the silver practice expedition for their @DofE. They walked along part of the South Downs improving their navigational skills and the instructors were impressed by the keen focus, determination and sense of fun shown by all!
