Success for our cross-country and gymnastics squads in their national and regional finals, and impressive individual achievements in netball, squash, and swimming.

Running the gamut

Congratulations to the senior cross-country squad (year 13s Rebecca and Imogen, year 12s Amina, Elizabeth and Mimi, and year 11s Lana and Millie) for placing 16th at the English Schools cross country national finals in Cornwall.

The competition started with 200 senior entries across 618 schools, with only the top 24 squads from each age group attending national finals. This is the 5th consecutive year this squad has qualified for national finals, testament to their commitment and dedication to school cross country. We are immensely proud of their achievement.

All for one, one for (netb)all

Congratulations to Astrid (year 11), Grace (year 10) and Molly (year 9) on their selection to a London Pulse netball hub for the current season. These are development squads for training and match play with some of the strongest players in Middlesex.

City now have six pupils competing for the netball super league development hubs, all of whom are leading the way as City netball continues to grow.

Making a racquet

Year 7 Anisa has recently been selected to represent Middlesex for the U13 Category in Squash. In mid-November, Anisa took part in her first inter county competition. During the competition her team had to play three other counties: Kent, Buckinghamshire and Hampshire, with 4 players battling it out in individual matches. After several matches against some tough competition, the Middlesex U13 team qualified for the finals which will take place in January – we’ll have our fingers crossed.

(Breast)stroke of genius

Ella (year 12) won overall champion honours in the 200m breaststroke, 200m IM and the 400m IM in the London Winter Championships. These times helped secure her qualification for English Winter Nationals which take place this month.

Ella is currently ranked in the top 7 (16 year old females) in the UK for all three of her events. Well done, Ella!

Early birds get the national finals place!

Our U13 (Rosa, Anna, Isaure and Margaret), U16 (Rivga, Kate, Sara and Clara) and U19 (Daisy, Marie, Emily and Eva) gymnastics teams train tirelessly before school all year round. On Thursday 2 December, they all competed in the regional round of the Team Trio competition.  Gymnasts all perform an individual floor routine, two vaults and an acrobatic trio routine, and the three scores combine to give a team total; the top two teams then qualify for national finals. The U19 team category was the largest ever, with 16 teams competing across both the U19 and U16 groups. Both teams performed beautifully and finished in silver medal position, with Daisy and Rivga finishing as the highest scoring individual gymnasts in their age groups.  It was the first competition for the U13s due to covid restrictions, but the team held their nerves and finished the day as regional champions! All three teams will now go on to represent the London region at the national finals in March.
