Singing at the Worshipful Company of Poulters

Senior and Chamber Choir Singing at Worshipful Company of Poulters Election Day Service at St Peter Upon Cornill

Our combined senior and chamber choirs were invited to perform at the Annual Election Service of the Worshipful Company of the Poulters at St Peter upon Cornhill. A service has taken place there every year since the death of Robert Warden in November 1609; his will made provision for a particular service to be held annually on Ash Wednesday and we are proud to be part of this historic tradition. Alongside famous hymns such as 'Jerusalem', our students also sang anthems including music by Schubert. The acoustic was as beautiful as the Wren architecture, and we were particularly interested to discover a large wooden screen reputedly designed by Wren's own daughter when she was 17!
