Silver Duke of Edinburgh expedition

Silver Duke of Edinburgh students hiking in a field

56 students completed their Duke of Edinburgh silver expedition practice on the South Downs. Starting near Alfriston and finishing near Lewes, our students worked in teams to successfully practise route planning, navigation, camping and cooking. They had the chance to enjoy magnificent views of Beachy Head and the English Channel, and picturesque Sussex countryside. Following minor navigation errors experienced by some teams - resulting in a slightly longer walk - on the whole, the teams were very strong. On occasion, certain teams had to slow down to save them from finishing early! One of the experienced instructors commented that his group were the best team he had ever worked with - a testament to the outstanding hard work of our students. Looking ahead, our silver qualifier and gold practice will depart from CLSG at 7:30am on Friday 14 June, and I will send more information to parents regarding locations by email.
