Rose Lecture with Dr Bunce

We were delighted to welcome Dr Robin Bunce from the University of Cambridge for a brilliantly thought‑provoking Rose Lecture on ‘The Architecture of Dystopia.’ Focusing in particular on George Orwell’s 1984, Dr Bunce delivered a wide-ranging and beautifully illustrated talk on the architecture which inspired this seminal work.  He considered buildings both real and imagined which have since been used in film depictions of the book, from Senate House to Battersea Power Station.  We were unsurprised and reassured to have him reference our wonderful Barbican home too! We much enjoyed welcoming alumnae as well as boys from CLS too for this inter-disciplinary discussion.
