Six students in our Engineering Design Trust programme, in partnership with Arcadis, have been tackling a real-world civil engineering challenge: designing a road bridge to help reopen a canal in South Wales. Since November, they’ve tested ideas, refined calculations, and solved complex design problems. They recently took the next big step at UCL’s MechSpace, spending two days building a scale model of their final design alongside UCL students and lecturers. It was an invaluable experience empowering them to think, build, and innovate like engineers.
