Public speaking competition

Speech being performed at the finals of the English-Speaking Union's international public speaking competition.

On Friday 17 May, we were lucky enough to get the opportunity to watch the finals of the English-Speaking Union's international public speaking competition. The six grand finalists were from England, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Denmark, France and Romania, and each gave a speech on the topic 'there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.' After each speech, there was then an opportunity for us as audience members to ask the speaker some questions. All of the speeches were amazing, and the judges declared the winner as Michel from France, who gave a speech entitled 'The Battle of Narratives.' It was an extremely enriching experience that has fuelled our interest in public speaking; we look forward to utilising what we observed on this trip.
