Poet in residence

We were delighted to welcome the critically acclaimed and award-winning poet Daljit Nagra for a brief stint as our poet in residence. Daljit wowed our year 9s with a lively poetry workshop where he encouraged students to consider how to play with language and break with tradition when it comes to structuring a poem. Daljit also ran a more intimate and hands-on workshop with the combined Junior and Senior creative writing clubs. On Wednesday, Daljit returned to speak to year 12 about his poem 'Look! We Have Coming to Dover!' which features on their A level syllabus. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to ask the poet questions about intended meaning and interpretation. Daljit concluded his visit with a Literary Society lecture on dealing with uncertainty in unseen poetry.
