Something afoot for anti-bullying week
On Friday 20 November, in honour of National Anti-Bullying Week, students and staff put their best sock forward for Odd Socks Day, designed to celebrate the uniqueness and individuality of humankind.

Netball News Roundup
The annual house netball tournaments for years 7 and 8 took place this week, with Ward and St. Bride respectively emerging victorious. Further up the school, meanwhile, one player has been selected to train with a netball academy.

Wings of Hope Award
Congratulations to year 12 Celine, who participated in the Wings of Hope Achievement Award. This is a programme which encourages students from years 9-13 to work in small teams to fundraise for the Wings of Hope Charity, which helps children in India and Malawi access free education.

Year 13 politics students were fortunate to be able to question Lord Hannay of Chiswick over Zoom during their lesson today.

The results are Berl-in: German Olympiad
Many congratulations to Sophia in year 12, for her extraordinary performance in this year's international German Olympiad, which took place virtually this year. This feat is all the more impressive given that Sophia joined CLSG in year 9, having never studied German before.

A star team: not up for debate
Our debating team might be missing debating in real life at the moment, but we have been able to compete internationally instead. Two debates were held against Greenhills High School, Dallas, Texas, the current US national champions, and we were lucky to receive feedback from current and former members of the US national team, including Huệ Anh Cao, who was the top-ranked female speaker in the world in 2019 world schools championships.

House drama gets five stars from Oscar winning director Tom Hooper
The final day of term saw the screening of the four House Drama short films, judged by the Oscar-winning director of Les Miserables and the King's Speech, Tom Hooper. Ordinarily a stage-based production, this year's special circumstances saw director of drama Mr Whyld adapt the competition into a short film contest, with each house given four weeks to devise, film, and edit ten-minute long features on the theme of 'Alone Together'.

Last weekend, 75 year 10 students completed the silver practice expedition for their @DofE. They walked along part of the South Downs improving their navigational skills and the instructors were impressed by the keen focus, determination and sense of fun shown by all!
