On Monday 1 March we welcomed Tim Otty QC to deliver the third of our exciting new lecture series. In a wide-ranging and thought-provoking talk that drew on his own specific experiences as a lawyer, Tim discussed the role the courts - both here and abroad - can and should play in safeguarding basic liberties and in protecting minorities, the vulnerable and the marginalised, particularly now, in the age of social media, when the scope for misinformation and unchecked abuse of power and influence is so great.

I want you to stand up, sit down, and stand up again... 2800 times. Sound like a challenge? This is exactly what the PE Department, and some pupils, parents, and staff committed to do in the month of February and have now successfully completed!

Computer says yes: Oxford University computing competition
Well done to the 71 students who participated in the Oxford University Computing Competition, a competition open only to those who achieved a Gold Certificate or performed within the top 10% nationally in the UK Bebras Challenge late last year.

Traverse festival workshops
A number of students virtually traversed the country to attend Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre’s recent online festival, enjoying two workshops from leading playwrights who set out their approaches to the craft.

New senior committee announced
Huge congratulations to the following year 12s who will be our senior committee for 2021-22. They will take the baton from our brilliant year 13s following the Easter break.

During the week of 22 February (first week back after half term), the PE Department will be hosting Masterclass Week!

Girls just want to have end of half term fun
As the holidays approached, and students and teachers collectively prepared to pack up their home desks to return... er... home, a dilemma emerged: how to celebrate getting through this rather strange remote half term together? With gathering round communal party rings sadly off limits, students were instead set a series of fun challenges to complete at home.

We celebrated an academic year of spectacular achievement in our final assembly this morning; from debating success to athletic prowess, new meaningful partnerships and a glowing ISI report. Countless music concerts, drama productions and art shows, exciting trips and language, science and maths competitions. There is so much to celebrate and we remain so very proud of our community here. Wishing you all a happy and restful summer break.
