It was great to see an audience of over 360 parents, students, staff, and alumnae from around the world tune in to listen to Carol Ann Duffy speak about ‘The Music of Being Human’ on 1 February, for the first annual Andrew Douglas memorial lecture.
Holocaust memorial workshop
To mark Holocaust Memorial Day this week, a number of students in years 10 and 11 had the opportunity to attend a talk by Sarah Wetton of the National Holocaust Centre and Museum.
Linking up with the law
On 27 January, Linklaters led a webinar for CLSG and partner school pupils to illuminate what a career with a leading law firm is like, as well as introduce students to graduate recruitment schemes and the transferable skills most valued by recruiters.

Survival of the friendliest! Year 7 desert island challenge
One of the happy byproducts of virtual learning is that students are no longer bound by form group bubbles, allowing them to socialise more easily across class and year-group boundaries. This is exactly what stood out to year 7 Sienna about last week’s Year 7 Challenge, which brought together students from each form into groups to imagine they were stranded on a desert island.

Inside the covid classroom: biology on film
It’s great to see so many departments taking advantage of home environments to try out innovative ways to learn. In Biology, for instance, students have been creating short films to illustrate biological processes.

The drama department has posted out: one carrot peeler, two pairs of yellow marigolds, 19 rolls of green paper and six tripods…The year 8 cast of This Changes Everything could now begin filming their play, while Mrs Mapstone directs from Zoom.
