Girls just want to have end of half term fun
As the holidays approached, and students and teachers collectively prepared to pack up their home desks to return... er... home, a dilemma emerged: how to celebrate getting through this rather strange remote half term together? With gathering round communal party rings sadly off limits, students were instead set a series of fun challenges to complete at home.

Sister act: siblings concert and prep concert videos
For many of our musical siblings, more time together has also meant more time practising together. To celebrate this familial talent, we have put together our very first ever Siblings Concert, where you can watch some wonderful sibling sessions on recorders, strings, piano, and voice.

Sustainability at City
CLSG has joined the Eco-Schools Programme, a global initiative encouraging pupil-led climate action. Over the coming year, we will work towards their Green Flag Award, carrying out an environmental review of the school and putting in place an action plan on a range of areas including waste, transport, biodiversity and energy.

LGBT+ history month
Throughout February, City has been celebrating LGBT+ History Month, a UK initiative that aims to promote equality by increasing the visibility of LGBT+ experiences.

Pupils from both CLS and CLSG were asked to submit articles on the theme of 'Propaganda and Disinformation' for the brand new History and Politics Magazine, Folkmoot.

Be the light: reflecting on Holocaust memorial day
In addition to the Holocaust Memorial Day workshop highlighted in the last newsletter, students from Year 11 to 13 produced a thoughtful assembly to commemorate HMD, centred around its theme this year, 'Be the light in the darkness'.

Voces8 choir workshop
On Wednesday 3 February, choir students from CLSG & CLS participated in a workshop run by Voces8, a British acapella octet with quite a following (over 175k on Facebook).

Maths challenge
On Wednesday 3 February, all pupils in years 9 and 10 sat down to tackle the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, an annual country-wide competition that demands mathematical reasoning to answer interesting multiple choice conundrums.

Last weekend, 75 year 10 students completed the silver practice expedition for their @DofE. They walked along part of the South Downs improving their navigational skills and the instructors were impressed by the keen focus, determination and sense of fun shown by all!
