Following on from City's languages week, we thought it fitting to introduce our new language assistants.
We are delighted to welcome Qicheng Liu (Ana), our Chinese language assistant, who says she has loved the lively atmosphere of City, praising the students’ talents and enthusiasm for learning. Paula Gomez Villarin, our new Spanish language assistant, has likewise commented that the vibrant spirit of the students has been a highlight of her time at City so far. She has enjoyed sharing the rich diversity of Spain, a country with four official languages! Spanish language assistant Lorena Parra Uroz echoes this, appreciating how energetic her students are across all year groups.
From Turkey, our German language assistant Tugbanur Yoney has delighted in sharing the quirks of the German language with her students, revealing the double meaning of the word ‘umfahren’. Interestingly, stressing the first syllable would mean 'to run someone over', whilst emphasising the second syllable means 'to drive around something'. Our French language assistant, Rachel Lund, has also shared that in France, you can eat a different cheese every single day of the year, as France produces more than 1600 different kinds of cheese! And finally, Emilie Jean, also a French language assistant, finds inspiration in the creativity of her students. She has been sharing her love for literature with them, inspiring deeper connections with stories in French. We're delighted to hear all of the ways our new language assistants have been bringing a world of discovery into their classrooms.
