Miranda Gray, a (fictional) tradesperson with a chequered past of 'loose morals and dark tendencies', was put on trial for arson and fraud after her music studio burned down in suspicious circumstances at the end of 2021.
The evidence seemed damning: she claimed the insurance money in double-quick time, three petroleum cans were found in her vehicle, and her phone contained suspicious searches about how to commit arson. But who were these mysterious Highgate 'enemies' that she blamed it on? Was her phone really stolen to incriminate her? The jury was unconvinced. The accused was found guilty by a clear margin. We are grateful to Michael Collett KC for adjudicating the event.
