Alexandra in year 9 insists "it was an enjoyable experience, despite having to do it remotely. The challenge got increasingly difficult as the questions went on and near the end the problem solving questions were very interesting and a good way to stretch our minds. It was also a nice way to mix up our normal routine and do something outside of the curriculum. We are all waiting for the results to come out"

Voces8 choir workshop
On Wednesday 3 February, choir students from CLSG & CLS participated in a workshop run by Voces8, a British acapella octet with quite a following (over 175k on Facebook).

It was great to see an audience of over 360 parents, students, staff, and alumnae from around the world tune in to listen to Carol Ann Duffy speak about ‘The Music of Being Human’ on 1 February, for the first annual Andrew Douglas memorial lecture.

Holocaust memorial workshop
To mark Holocaust Memorial Day this week, a number of students in years 10 and 11 had the opportunity to attend a talk by Sarah Wetton of the National Holocaust Centre and Museum.

Year 12 mathematicians had a great trip to the maths in action conference last week. Topics covered included Fermat's last theorem and transforming mobius strips, how MRI scanners function & how numbers determine which musical notes sound good together.
