Lumières, caméra, action: French study day

clsg-french-workshop-bfi

Recently our sixth form students studying French attended a study day on the French New Wave at the BFI on the Southbank. They enjoyed a highly instructive workshop in the morning which allowed them to explore in greater depth and detail the context of the film they are studying (Truffaut’s ‘Les 400 Coups’) followed by a film screening in the afternoon. The viewing offered an opportunity to refresh their memories of the film and finally see it on the big screen as originally intended. The students learnt about the origins of this famous film movement in the 1960s, its pioneers, and the innovative techniques used, such as the famous 'camera-stylo'.
