We were thrilled to welcome Professor Ypi from LSE to give a talk on Albanian history, how we define freedom and the politics of immigration. She read from her recent book ‘Free: Coming of Age at the End of History’, in which philosophical analysis is interwoven with her personal story. Exploring Albania’s transition from communism to a ‘free’ society in parallel to her own transition from childhood to adulthood, the book challenges both straightforward western democratic definitions of freedom and misconceptions surrounding immigration. Organised by sixth formers, this talk has students and staff alike hanging on to every word!
