Livery Climate Action Group annual conference 2024

Students at the Livery Climate Action Group annual conference 2024

On Tuesday 22 October, I attended a conference with two other students entitled ‘Planning for Resilient Futures’. This conference was held by the Livery Climate action group and was a vital opportunity to connect, learn from each other, and strengthen collective purpose. As we confront the pressing realities of the climate crisis, it was heartening to see how each livery company brings a unique perspective and set of priorities to the table. Through rich discussions with company leaders and industry experts, some of whom shared their insights on panel discussions tackling biodiversity, water scarcity, and energy conservation, it became clear that these companies are not merely talking about change; they are driving it. Our role was to give them an idea of the various initiatives City has implemented to promote sustainability throughout the school. Key highlights included the Tree Connections Project, the Climate Change Course offered to sixth-formers, and the immersive FarmEd Trip, where students gained firsthand experience in sustainable farming and food production practices. We all thoroughly enjoyed showcasing City’s commitment to creating a more sustainable future.
