On 11 May, Gemma Hobson gave a talk to students as one of the three options for this term's Life After City event, discussing her route into healthcare. The other two talks of the day were given by Emma Cox, CEO of Endometriosis UK, and Jennifer Cox, a lawyer for Molton Brown. Speaking to us virtually from Spain where she is currently working, Gemma described how she embarked on a career in healthcare without a science background, going on to direct a pharmaceutical company. Gemma emphasised the huge variety of roles within healthcare, as well as the importance of being open to taking new directions in your career.
Year 12 mathematicians had a great trip to the maths in action conference last week. Topics covered included Fermat's last theorem and transforming mobius strips, how MRI scanners function & how numbers determine which musical notes sound good together.
