Law society talk

CLSG students on the Barbican highwalk

At our latest Law Society talk, His Honour Judge Richard Marks KC of the Old Bailey offered a gripping insight into life at the sharp end of criminal justice, drawing on 13 years as King’s Counsel and his work on major cases involving murder, terrorism, and gang‑related violence. He spoke candidly about the high‑stakes reality for defendants, the pressures on juries, and the challenges posed by sensationalist media coverage. We all left with a compelling understanding of the complexity and responsibility of practising criminal law.
