As part of STEM week and in connection with our HerAI initiative, we welcomed Dr Anita Wale, consultant radiologist at St George’s Hospital and Deputy Director of the Imaging Research Group, for a fascinating Kerridge Lecture. After an informal meet-and-greet with Dr Wale and her multidisciplinary team of radiologists, physicists and researchers, a packed Weston Lecture Theatre heard her explore how AI is shaping the future of medical imaging and clinical decision-making, and whether computers could one day interpret patient scans as effectively as doctors. Thought‑provoking and future‑focused, the session left our students inspired and excited about the possibilities and challenges that lie ahead in medical science.
