iGEM trip to Paris

iGEM team presenting their research in Paris

On Tuesday 22 October, the iGEM team travelled to Paris to present their project at the Grand Jamboree! This is an international competition, where different teams from around the world compete to utilise synthetic biology to solve real-world problems. Our project focused on breaking down nitrous oxide within Entonox - an anaesthetic widely used across the NHS - in a more sustainable, cost-effective manner than is currently available. Our hard work paid off, as we managed to achieve our first gold medal since 2021, as well as a prestigious nomination for Best Model. It was the greatest privilege to meet a range of like-minded students from around the world and see the hopeful future of synthetic biology.
