Year 12, together with several partnering sixth forms, had the privilege of attending our very first HerAI conference. The morning was packed with inspiration as we heard from four trailblazing voices shaping the forefront of artificial intelligence; Joanna Shan from Google DeepMind, Amy Gaeta from the University of Cambridge, Charlotte Wood from Schroders and Laura Bates, best-selling author and founder of the Everyday Sexism Project.
Each guest offered a fresh perspective into this ever-evolving field, particularly from a gendered perspective, exploring not only the ethical dilemmas and potential risks of AI but also its extraordinary capacity to drive innovation, solve complex problems and create positive social change. After the talks, we curated a panel discussion, unpacking what we’d learnt, and the audience posed thought-provoking questions. The conversation was lively and left us buzzing with ideas. We came away feeling empowered, more informed about the world we live in today and very grateful to our panellists for sharing their expertise.
