Guys and Dolls

Joint senior school production of Guys and Dolls at CLSG

In what has been described as 'the best school show - ever', the almost 70-strong team put on an incredible production of Guys and Dolls last week. With a Monday showing for local primary schools and four evening performances, the result was a testament to months of work, an extraordinary creative team and the exceptional ensemble work of the cast. This joyous comedy of love and gambling was a perfect medium for the cast to showcase their acting talent. Special mentions to Zoe, Zoe, Alec and James who gave The Bridge a run for their money, to Lyra and Wilf for their brilliant double act, to Mira for outstanding energy and to Poppy, for the scene that made us all cry. The Hotbox and Chorus must be congratulated for exceptional ensemble work and Dylan must be recognised for making playing a different waiter in every scene look easy! None of it would have been possible without the amazing commitment and hard work of Mrs Mapstone, Mr Jacklin, Mrs Bamkole, Ms Barclay, Mr Trewren,  Miss Carey and Miss Layson who transported the audience straight back to the streets of 1950s New York. The cast was accompanied by an incredible live band of staff and pupils whose music immersed the audience in utter delight. All of the cast wanted the show to go on!
