This year sees the UK host COP26 in Glasgow in November - the UN international conference on climate change. To get a taste of what a negotiation between lots of different countries is like, four of our students took part in a 'mock COP' event, organised by the London Schools Eco-Network, at St Pauls' Girls School.
Ashmi and Gehhna in Year 10 worked with other students from Tiffin Girls' School to represent China and Eleanor and Camille in Year 11 represented Gabon with two students from Halcyon School. Everyone worked together to prepare opening and closing statements, and to hold their own in debate in working towards a set of resolutions committing each country to actions to prevent climate change. Our students did incredibly well in practicing their public speaking and diplomacy skills.
