The Human Rights Club invited Aida Salili to talk about her work with the centre for disaster protection. It was a fascinating talk that bridged bigger picture humanitarian crises to the individual impacts on communities. Chiming with International Women’s Day, we learnt a lot about how women are disproportionally affected by disaster situations, despite facing the same object circumstances as men. This impactful talk highlighted how necessary it is to educate young people about modern day human rights concerns.
