This half term featured not one but two GCSE music lunchtime concerts, reflecting the healthy uptake of the subject at the moment. We heard a wide range of repertoire from our year 10 (one-year course) and year 11 (two-year course) musicians, from Telemann to Gilbert & Sullivan, across a variety of instruments. The pupils should be very proud of their efforts in preparation and performance, and will have hopefully enjoyed gaining experience in playing in front of an audience comprising their peers, family and friends.
Year 12 mathematicians had a great trip to the maths in action conference last week. Topics covered included Fermat's last theorem and transforming mobius strips, how MRI scanners function & how numbers determine which musical notes sound good together.
