French debating competition

Students taking part in French debating competition

Two teams of year 12 French students went to St Paul’s Girls’ School to take part in the annual Joutes Oratoires French debating competition. We debated everything from mass tourism to surrogacy to influencer culture. Sophie and I qualified, reaching the Silver Finals, where we won a debate on why contemporary literature deserves just as much love as the classics. The whole experience boosted our French, our confidence, and our ability to think on our feet!
