Engineering essay prize

Congratulations to Jiyaa (year 12) whose design for the Engineering Innovation Challenge was the winning entry in the 'Most Realistic' category. Around 4000 students globally entered various essay competitions in multiple fields, and the full list of awards can be found here. For the engineering competition, entrants were tasked with designing a novel wearable technology whilst considering functionality, use of advanced technologies and aesthetics. Jiyaa's winning design was a liquid shock absorber helmet called 'ShockSorb', aimed to mitigate the impact of sudden forces to the head while simultaneously tracking motion and transmitting data to an app for analysis. It was recognised as a realistic and optimal solution to this critical issue.
