It was a pleasure to welcome Emma Smith, Professor of Shakespeare Studies at the University of Oxford, as our City@6 speaker last week. Emma gave a fascinating talk titled, 'What is Shakespeare's First Folio... and why should I care?' Emma examined how the First Folio came into being, and discussed how integral the book has been in Shakespeare's global and lasting reputation. Following the talk we had some excellent questions from the audience. asking how many copies of the First Folio exist today, and querying the value of seeing Shakespeare's plays performed live as opposed to reading as a book. If you would like to see a recording of the talk, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
