On 11th of November, Year 11 drama students attended a workshop on sound engineering to create scenes from the Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht. We were guided by actor Oliver Dimsdale, who was the artistic director for the staging of the play at the National Theatre in 2007, and sound technician Eva. The workshop was heavily based around sound; we bent baskets to evoke the sound of steps across a creaking bridge and created echoing bangs using different props. Although it was challenging, the final product was extremely effective and impressive considering we only had two hours to put them together. The experience was genuinely fascinating; an enthralling look into the behind-the-scenes world of theatre.
