The first day on our Duke of Edinburgh silver practice expedition was aimed at improving our map reading and navigational skills.
It was dry and we crisscrossed scenic hills at pace. We had an early night after dinner, and the birds woke us up as soon the light broke through our tents. We got up, ready for the day ahead, but it quickly dawned on us that everything was wet, and by the time we made it to the second campsite in the afternoon, everything was waterlogged! Though this presented some challenges, it definitely will prepare us for the qualifier in Wales.
