Colton Memorial Lecture 2026

Students listenin to the Colton Memorial Lecture 2026

We were honoured to welcome alumna Daisy Christodoulou, class of 2003, back to City for this year’s Colton Memorial Lecture, given in honour of City’s longest serving headmistress, Gladys Colton. Following in Miss Colton’s footsteps, Daisy began her career as an English teacher and now brings that experience to her role as Director of Education at tech start-up, ‘No More Marking’, which is developing AI applications for marking students’ writing. Daisy’s talk explored the conflicts that the ever-expanding reach of computer-based learning is bringing to education, as both students and teachers become increasingly reliant on this technology. Daisy presented us with thought-provoking research on the impact that using AI has on the brain, both positive and negative, and her conviction that the better we understand this dichotomy, the more we will ultimately benefit from this latest – and at times intimidating – innovation.
