CLSG launches Atherton Award

CLSG is pleased to launch the Atherton Award for students in years 7-13.

Donated by Amber Atherton, a serial entrepreneur whose Y Combinator backed start-up was acquired by Discord, this award aims to recognise entrepreneurial spirit. Amber is the author of ‘The Rise of Virtual Communities,’ published by Apress in 2023. Most recently she has crossed over into investing and is a partner at Patron VC.

The award could be awarded for anything from completing an online coding course, to inventing a novel product or starting a business alongside school work.

The winner of the prize will receive a trophy and £500 to go towards the next phase of their entrepreneurial journey, in addition to a day of mentoring with Amber Atherton or someone in her network who might be more relevant to the individual. The ultimate goal of the award is to incentivise more young women to enter STEM careers and entrepreneurship. By the end of 2023, the Atherton Award aims to be in over 100 girls’ schools across the UK.
