A second hand clothes sale took place on last week. Students searched their wardrobes and brought their second hand clothes to a red box on B Floor.
£215 in total was raised for Choose Love! We were really pleased with how many items were donated and how enthusiastic people were about it.
Choose Love is a charity that helps refugees by providing food, shelter, lifesaving medical care and legal support. They support over 150 projects and over a million people across Europe, the Middle East and the US-Mexico border. Some projects include supporting Afghan refugees and helping children seeking safety on the US border. Also, if you go to the Choose Love store, you can buy items like warm clothes which will be distributed to people who need it.
We wanted to do this because textile waste and fast fashion are such big problems and reusing clothes is a practical way to prevent these. We chose to help refugees because of what has been happening in Afghanistan and we thought that it was really important to help the people who are struggling especially as it helps with women’s rights.
