Mrs Justice McGowan poster

On Monday 6 February, CLSG hosted the Honourable Mrs Justice McGowan DBE in the City@6 slot. Her Ladyship, who was appointed as a High Court judge in 2014 and is currently seconded to the Central Criminal Court, presented an overview of the evolution of criminal evidence since the origins of police investigation in the nineteenth century.

She explained that the advent of DNA fingerprinting and associated forensic techniques, as well as digital methods allowing police to track suspects' movements and communication, has vastly expanded the investigative toolkit. Luckily for society at large, it is extremely difficult to get away with a crime if a police investigation is robust and well-resourced! We are grateful to Mrs Justice McGowan for taking the time to address the CLSG community.
