On Monday 17 May, City@6 welcomed Kathryn Stone OBE, who talked about her experience as Victims' Commissioner in Northern Ireland.
She started by establishing the natural complexity of the job she had undertaken: ‘nothing is ever straightforward in Northern Ireland’. With even the definition of ‘victim’ contested, Kathryn described how she navigated the issues of allegiance and identity. In a dictated ‘us and them’, her impartiality was of a third side which she described as being the 'side of the law’.
